ABOUT US

The Keep it Local campaign was set up by Simon Marfell and Gary Hepburn of the Sirius Business Services Ltd Group of companies www.sirius-group.co.uk who believe that the answer to fighting the recession within the local economy is to keep money as far as possible within the local community.

Simon Marfell

Simon has been supplying general office products, furniture and equipment for many years and has held sales positions in several local and national companies. He is an excellent communicator and a very astute salesman. Simon understands the importance of getting it right first time and ensuring customers get exactly what they require, giving them the reassurance that we can be relied upon to give you the best possible service and very competitive rates

Gary Hepburn

Gary has been involved in the field of business services, security and risk management since 1987. Having originally focused on IT management and security in the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), he broadened his facility management, security and health and safety skills in the early 1990's. In 1995, he joined Johnson Controls (a worldwide American owned corporation specialising in facilities management and outsourcing) and worked his way up to the senior management position of Head of Security, where he was responsible for advising the board and all staff on security as well as the companies wide ranging portfolio of clients.

Gary has worked with and advised many major and international companies in the petrochemical, financial services, pharmaceutical, media, research, IT, engineering industries as well as facilities management and Government organisations. Gary left the company in March 2001 to set up Sirius Business Services Ltd. Gary is a member of the Institute of Directors, the American Society for Industrial Security and associated with several other professional bodies in the fields of health, safety, risk and security management, such as the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

Gary has wide experience in dealing with the media and undertaking TV, radio and newspaper interviews on behalf of his own business and client organisations.

Simon and Gary believe passionately that local business can compete with national suppliers and in most cases beat them hands down, on price and customer service. Local suppliers are often just not given a chance by medium and large business and organisations like local authorities, who believe they get a better deal from national suppliers. Keep it Local is not about saying you must give all your business to local based businesses, it is about giving local businesses the chance to price for your requirements. Local businesses do not want special treatment, just the opportunity to be considered and competent for business on an even playing field.

If you are committed to supporting local companies e-mail us now at info@keepitlocaldorset.co.uk  and join the campaign.
